Book presentation “Dazzled by Color” on 15 March 2019

On 15 March 2019 at 6 pm the book Dazzled by Color (German title: Faszination Farbe) will be presented at the Museum Wiesbaden. The richly illustrated publication presents works from the Reinhard Ernst Collection over 320 pages. As such, it provides a preview of the art that will be on show at the planned Reinhard Ernst Museum.

After a welcome by Alexander Klar, director of the Museum Wiesbaden, the authors Kirsten Maria Limberg, art historian from Heidelberg, and Christoph Zuschlag, professor at the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Bonn, will introduce the book.

A passion for paint has always been at the centre of Reinhard Ernst’s collecting over the last 30 years. A particular emphasis is on the post-1945 art from Europe, the United States and Japan. Dazzled by Color shows a selection of 160 works – mainly from the Informel movement and abstract expressionism. These include works by Franz Ackermann, Willi Baumeister, Hubert Berke, Helen Frankenthaler, Katharina Grosse, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Emil Schumacher, Kazuo Shiraga, Pierre Soulages, Frank Stella, Atsuko Tanaka, Antoni Tàpies, Emilio Vedova and Inoue Yuichi.

Dazzled by Color is published by Hirmer Verlag and costs €59.90. The illustrated volume includes contributions by Kirsten Maria Limberg, Carolin Langer, Christoph Zuschlag and Reinhard Ernst. It can be purchased at the Museum Wiesbaden, your local book shop or online (ISBN: 978-3-7774-3233-5). In addition to the German edition, an English-language version is also available.

Following the book presentation, an exhibition of paintings from the Reinhard Ernst Collection was shown in two rooms at the Museum Wiesbaden until 1 June 2019.
